I live in the middle of the city with a small balcony of my own so I’m always looking at colourful quirky ways that other people decorate theirs. Even the most simple additions can add lift to a small grey space. Here are some examples and ideas that I love. Please note: in Australia this is how we spell colour ;)
So it’s been 40+ degrees here in Melbourne over the last couple of days. I am not complaining…give me hot hot weather over cold any day!
Here is some Summer Inspiration for everyone in the heat at the moment and for those in the Polar Vortex ):
All pics from my Tumblr Blog.
Last week I posted about Hachiko the most loyal dog in the world. This is a picture of the Hachiko statue in Japan and a dog sitting with it, just idolising his idol.
Picture from SEE MORE Facebook page. Original caption read “Dreaming Big”…Lol!

This is a composite image of the Messier 81 (M81) galaxy shows what astronomers call a “grand design” spiral galaxy, where each of its arms curls all the way down into its center. Located about 12 million light-years away in the Ursa Major constellation, M81 is among the brightest of the galaxies visible by telescope from Earth.
Shut up! This is Cute!…I took this straight from > Japan-Community.com “Stuffed animals are cooped up! They want to ditch your bed and bookshelves. They want to see the world. They want to travel. And in Japan, they can.
Enter Unagi Travel. It dubs itself as a “travel agency for stuffed animals.” For the past three years, 38 year-old Sonoe Azuma has been taking stuffed animals on vacation and day-trips. This allows the owners of the stuffed animals, some of which are physically impaired, to live vicariously through the plush toys.
Travelogues are uploaded to Facebook, where the owners can follow what activities their stuffed animals are up to. Stuffed animals that participate get a commemorative photograph, along with a CD-ROM filled with pics and precious memories”. End.
Cool or Wacky? I think Crazy Cool! I still have a huge boxful of all my stuffed toys stored in our family garage from when I was little. Actually they all texted me the other day….Blindey (he’s a mouse who lost his eyes) said he was desperate for some time in the sun. PS: these pics, LOL LOL LOL!! Right?
Another thing that I’m fascinated with, Harajuku. Mostly, um Everything! Here are some images taken at the district. Harrow Innovation! If you like what you see, Tokyo Fashion on FaceBook is a great place to start…they share and take really cool photos. PS: This IS NOT a Halloween Post, it’s what an ordinary day in Harajuku looks like.
From Wikipedia: Harajuku (原宿 “meadow lodging”) is a district in Shibuya ward, Tokyo Prefecture.
The general name of the area from Harajuku station to the Omotesando area. According to the current Japanese addressing system, the neighbourhood ‘Jingu-mae’ is included in this greater area. In the 1990s there was an influx of famous overseas fashion brand flagship store openings. At the same time, new fashion trend shops spread in the residential areas of Jingu-mae blocks 3 and 4, and the area came to be known as Ura-Harajuku (‘Harajuku Back Streets’). In 2006, Omotesando Hills was opened. In 2008 the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line was installed and is expected to further expand in the future.
I don’t know why but ever since I was a teenager I’ve been in love with anything to do with Palm Springs. I’ve never been there. I’ve never even been to California or America. But I’m just fascinated with the place… the desert, the windmills along that highway you see in so many movies, Las Vegas (so close) the Retro Gas Stations, the weather and THE PARKER HOTEL. When I first saw this Hotel on its own reality TV show (called The Parker), I nearly died. What was this amazing place right in the middle of my Dream Desert?! In my mind I had to go there, I just had to work there, I had to get married there, I wanted to live there lol. It was just the best thing I’d ever seen. If you like what you see and you’re ever looking for a place to stay in Palm Springs, Google them for more.
1. I buy myself a bunch of flowers.
2. I buy myself a cute new pair of knickers.
3. I print a photo I Love and buy a cool frame from a $2 Discount Store to frame it in.
4. I buy myself a scented candle for my apartment.
5. I hire a DVD and get some snacks to go with it!
6. I buy some amazing chocolates and I don’t share them with anyone! eg: Haigh’s Chocolates in Melbourne are 2 Die 4.
7. I go for a couple of lattes, especially on a nice day and people watch for a while.
I’m in love with the freshness of these spaces. You don’t need many things in a white room, but they have to be chosen so carefully in my opinion. PS: I need to stop saying “in my opinion”…it’s my blog…pretty much everything I write will be “My Opinion.” All these pics have been sourced from tumblr, Pinterest, and other blogs…none are my own.
